Understanding the GAME view in the matchup card

A complete breakdown of every section on the matchup card so you know exactly what you're looking at.

When you visit the Games page, every scheduled matchup is displayed as a card. Each card has two views you can toggle between: GAME and SRN. This blog focuses on the GAME view, which shows traditional stats and context for the matchup.

1The GAME / SRN Toggle

In the top-right corner of every card you'll see a small pill toggle with two options:

GAMESRN
  • GAME: Traditional matchup info (records, ratings, injuries, and season series).
  • SRN: Sports Records Now (SRN) breakdown that scores each matchup across 6 weighted factors.

2Header Bar

GAME card header bar
  • Game Time: The scheduled tip-off time displayed in Eastern Time (ET).
  • Team Abbreviations & Season Records: Both teams are shown with their abbreviation (e.g. DAL, LAL) and overall season win-loss record.
  • Season Series: A centered badge showing the head-to-head record between the two teams this season (e.g. 1-2).

3Team Rows

Example of a team row

Each team gets its own row. The away team is always on top, the home team on the bottom. Each row contains:

Team Identity

The team logo, full name, conference (Eastern/Western), seed number (e.g. #7), and a badge indicating Home or Away.

Home / Away Record

The team's win-loss record specifically for home games (for the home team) or away games (for the away team). For example, 15-13 means 15 wins and 13 losses at home.

L10 (Last 10 Games)

The team's win-loss record over their most recent 10 completed games. It's a quick snapshot of current form. A team going 8-2 in their last 10 is on fire, while 2-8 signals a rough stretch.

Streak

The team's current winning or losing streak. Displayed as W3 (won 3 in a row) or L8 (lost 8 in a row). Green for wins, red for losses.

ORTG (Offensive Rating)

The team's season-average offensive rating (points scored per 100 possessions). Calculated from play-by-play data. Higher is better. A league-average ORTG is typically around 110-112.

DRTG (Defensive Rating)

The team's season-average defensive rating (points allowed per 100 possessions). Also calculated from play-by-play data. Lower is better. A team with a DRTG of 105 is elite defensively, while 115+ is poor.

B2B (Back-to-Back) Badge

If a team played the previous day, an orange B2B badge appears next to their name.

4Injury Report

Example of the injury report section

Shown only for today's games. Each team has a collapsible injury section that shows the number of injured players. Click to expand and see each player's name, status, and reason.

Player statuses are sorted by the following:

  • Out: Will not play.
  • Doubtful: Unlikely to play.
  • Questionable: May or may not play.
  • Probable: Likely to play.
  • Day-To-Day: Status evaluated daily.

Injuries are a critical factor. Losing a star player can swing a matchup significantly. The SRN view quantifies this via the Injury Impact factor.

5Season Series

Example of the season series section

At the bottom of each card is a collapsible Season Series section showing all previous matchups between the two teams this season. Each past game displays:

  • Date: When the game was played (e.g. Oct 14, Nov 27).
  • Score: The final score with the winning team's score highlighted in green.
  • Home / Away: Which team was home and which was away in that game.
  • Winner: A badge on the right showing which team won (e.g. DAL W, LAL W).

This gives you quick context on how these two teams have matched up so far. Some teams simply match up better against certain opponents regardless of overall record.
